Issue No. 7 - July 2026

Hello Friends,

July has arrived, bringing with it the true high season of summer get-togethers. From festive Fourth of July celebrations to spontaneous weekend pool days that stretch long past sunset, this month is all about the joy of gathering.

As a designer, nothing brings me greater pleasure than preparing a home to welcome friends and family. True hospitality isn't about rigid perfection; it’s about creating an atmosphere where guests instantly feel at ease, looked after, and a little bit pampered.

Whether you are hosting a grand backyard gathering or an intimate evening on the patio, making your space "host-worthy" doesn't require a complete overhaul. Often, it just takes a few intentional, curated details to elevate the entire experience. This month, we are sharing our designer secrets to effortless summer styling—and we’ve made it incredibly easy to bring these ideas home.

Pour a glass of iced tea, and let’s dive into our July guide to elevated summer hosting.

Happy Fourth of July,

Colleen

Elevating the Feast: Sophisticated Styling for the Fourth and Beyond

When designing a festive table or patio setup, it is easy to default to themed decor that feels a bit generic. Instead, my approach to holiday hosting is rooted in subtle, timeless elegance. You can nod to the holiday and the season through high-quality materials and an intentional color story, rather than literal motifs.

Here are three ways to prep your home for unforgettable summer gatherings:

  • Reimagine the Patriotic Palette: For a sophisticated Fourth of July, step away from bright primary colors. Instead, lean into deep, rich navy blues, soft plaster whites, and subtle accents of muted crimson or terracotta. It feels incredibly festive yet deeply sophisticated.

  • Layer Organic Textures: High-summer hosting calls for tactile, relaxed elements. Layer your table or serving stations with woven rattan chargers, crisp linen runners, and stoneware platters. These materials bring a vintage charm that pairs perfectly with modern, clean-lined serveware.

  • The Magic of Ambient Light: As twilight sets in, the right lighting entirely shifts the mood. Move away from harsh overhead fixtures. Scatter small, rechargeable cordless lamps across your outdoor dining tables and beverage stations, and mix in plenty of classic hurricanes with real pillar candles for a warm, flickering glow.

Shop the Look: Our Curated Entertaining Favorites

To help you get your home guest-ready for July, I’ve done the heavy lifting for you. I have completely refreshed our Amazon Storefront with a brand-new collection dedicated entirely to elevated summer hosting.

From timeless serveware and high-performance outdoor accents to the exact cordless lighting we use to create a twilight ambiance, these pieces have been vetted by our design team for quality, beauty, and function.

What’s in the July Collection:

  • The Glassware: Durable, beautifully textured acrylic and ribbed glasses that look like fine crystal but are entirely pool- and patio-safe.

  • The Table Layers: Neutral woven placements, linen-blend napkins, and classic wood serving boards that you will use all year round.

  • The Ambiance: Our absolute favorite water-resistant rechargeable table lamps and elegant brass lanterns.

Design Q&A: Connecting Indoor and Outdoor Hosting

Q: "I love hosting, but I always find myself running back and forth to the kitchen, which makes the evening feel chaotic. How can I design my entertaining space to make hosting feel more effortless?"

A: The key to stress-free hosting is anticipatory design—setting up your space so that it does the work for you. When a guest has to ask where something is, or when the host has to constantly leave the conversation, the flow is broken.

My number one tip is to create autonomous "stations." Instead of serving everything from your kitchen island, set up a self-serve beverage bar on a dining room sideboard or an outdoor console table. Pre-batch a signature cocktail in a beautiful glass dispenser, set out a bucket of ice, and line up the glassware.

Do the same for grazing: use a large, high-quality wooden board to spread out appetizers in the main seating zone before guests arrive. By decentralizing the food and drinks, you keep traffic moving smoothly throughout your home, and you get to actually sit down and enjoy your own party.

Curated for July

A few things our design team is loving, sourcing, and drawing inspiration from this month:

  • The Palette: Navy blue, warm sand, soft cream, and a splash of vintage amber.

  • The Material: Rattan, unlacquered brass, and tumbled travertine slabs for beautiful outdoor layering.

  • The Mood: Relaxed, conversational, and sun-drenched.
